One of those experience days out sounds nice. How about doing something really out of the ordinary for the new 'pensioner', like Go-Karting ?? :-)

Does he enjoy books, music? Or an elegant dinner out at a really nice restaurant?

Does he like the theatre? Maybe a weekend in London, taking in a Show?

That's a good idea, Mags! I think that by the time we've gotten to pensioners age, we pretty much have enough "things". An outing, trip. etc. would be different, appreciated and leave nice memories .....

Like the idea of the theatre trip. And the meal maybe a family one..........?but he may be adventorous therfore an "experience day" would be good...see I am just going with the flow............as I have no idea. ;)

Music - er..not really, I bought him a CD for fathers day.
Brandy - no he doesn't drink (except lager)
theatre - sounds good, but I don't think I can stretch to a weekend in london  all the shows are at least £50 per ticket & I couldn't send him on his own, and the travelling & the accomodation :?
Books - he does like reading.
I'll keep thiking - thanks for the ideas

How about a nice ball point pen, you could get it engraved with his name or just initials .......

Now you Elaine... are a bloody genius!

Dads present is sorted!

Well done. I'm loving both ideas and am thinking of getting tickets for a show (there's one with a black country comedian & he'd love that) and maybe a boat trip too!

Well done Elaine!!!!!!

I got 4 tickets (me, John, Mom & Dad) to see a very well known black country comedian - it's not until Dec though. It was from your link Elaine. I think a canal trip is still on the cards though too.
