View Full Version : Florida
Just starting to look round at villa's / flights / car hire for Florida next year. Anyone any recommendations and what we could expect to pay? There will be 8 of us. Think Tom will be classed as an adult so 5 adults, 2 children and an infant..
Any recommendations would be gratefully received ;)

ok do you want kissimmee or international drive?
Oh blimey Erin, I don't know :? any suggestions??
it depends on what your after kissimmee is a more quiet laid back resort, international drive is busier with more attractions.
If it was me,i would go to international drive
Ok International Drive then!
I would recommend travelling with Virgin, Fran - have you had a look at their brochure yet?
We stayed in Kissimmee but it was in a hotel not a villa. It was approx 5min drive from Downtown Disney. If you did choose Kissimmee, you would need to hire a car to get to all the parks. Virgin operate a Fly & Drive and your car is waiting for you at the airport when you land.
This link will give you some idea of the villas on offer....

Have only flown to Tampa and stayed in the Tampa area (more of a working break than holiday)
Went in December - I'm no help to you at all, am I?
The Gulf Coast is lovely - St Petes and Clearwater - miles and miles of empty white beaches. But no sign of Mickey Mouse .......
Which month are you planning on going Fran?

I think it can be unpleasantly hot in the summer - and liable to thunderstorms most afternoons, which clear the air for the evening. Not very helpful (again) am I?
We went to internation drive at the Clarion hotel it had realy good food and nice staff too. We went in April and it was my very first time on a plane

I'm afraid that we are governed by the school hols. Em will be up at High School too next year and the School does not grant time away for holidays :?

We thought somewhere like this for Honeymoon, but was told Oct was hurricane season? not sure....Ive been in Sept. November and January, the last being January and it was freezing - freak weather so we were told. Not been for 7 years though x
The official hurricane season is from June 1st until November 30th. We went for the last two weeks in November, had one heavy thunderstorm (all day) and that was it - caught the tail end I think.

Sorry I have never been to Florida..... over shot it once on the way to Cancun lol (Won that though)
We went at Christmas, was warm(ish) I would hate to go there in the Summer, but would have liked it a bit warmer. We swam with dolphins on Christmas Day which was fantastic Would definitely recommend this. We stayed in my brothers villa at Kissimmee. Near enough for all the parks & International Drive, but nice & peaceful too. Would recommend Kennedy Space Centre, bit of a drive, but you get to see a bit of the 'real' Florida, also recommend 'Gator Land.
Have a fab time, definitely a holiday to remember!
