You wouldn;t want me visiting. :)
Really I don't have a preference doesn't matter really just a break, Scotland was a thought.

Scotland is not a bad idea.
Thinking of flying or driving?
If you drive just go up to the SW - Galloway etc. Or the real borders - Moffat is a sweet wee town! Or Melrose, I believe!

I may well drive I love driving and then I can "meander so to speak and don't have to hire a car which I would if I flew.
There again Wales is nearer and do you know I have NEVER EVER been to Wales may go and suss it out for holidays with the dogs next year - as its nearer (less time for them in the car) I imagine Wales may be a 2-3 hour drive from me whereas Scotland would be 5ish.

Maybe Wales never thought of that till just, maybe the Elan valley area "where my water comes from" :)
