Well yesterday we came back from our week in Portugal, weather was fantastic, so was the scenery, Portuguese people were very friendly, place was nice and clean, and most of the locals spoke english. I would recommend Portugal to anybody who wants a nice holiday. Great for families too as the Portuguese people love children and they are very well accommodated.

It is a beautiful place Dawn, I couldn't recommend it enough, food was VERY cheap the most we paid for wine was about £2, meals out were very cheap most being about £12-15 (for two people) for a three course meal, the most we paid for a meal was in Albureria, where we had a three course meal with a jug of Sangria for about £30 (for two people).

Emma, what marvellous pictures...the scenery there is magnificent!!! Loved the views from your villa, especially the one with the enormous cycad (sago palm); but who would swim in the pool with that gorgeous beach so close?!! And the prawn cocktails made me hungry!! So glad you had a great holiday; thanks for sharing the pictures, and glad you're back!!

Thanks Dandysmon, that beach was about 20 mins drive from where the villa was, the pool was great in the afternoon and we bought a couple of inflatable beds to lounge around the pool on :)

Thanks Mags, I cannot get over how fantastic the people were, so friendly, we had a cafe that we could walk to and the lady who owns it was so nice, she gave us some free olives and some almond cake :)

The worst thing about holidays is that they go by too quick!:(

Very true Mags, It was nice to get back to the cats though, I missed them like mad ;) Arthur kept me awake for most of last night, purring like a train..

Emma - it looks wonderful . . . so glad you had a great time :D I've only been to Portugal once . . . long weekend and on business at that, :( but we managed to get to a beach and had some wonderful local fish cuisine; and you're right - so good and so cheap!!!

Glad you had a great holiday Emma!! The pictures are great - just love the blue sea. Makes me want a holiday more and more!!

Cant say I was particularly envious of you getting a prawn cocktail with those horrid beady black eyed things on top!!

Did you have a private villa to yourself? Very nice!

Yes we hired out the Villa all to ourselves, it only cost £465 for the week which I didn't think was bad. It had three bedrooms and two bathrooms.

Welcome back Emma. So pleased you had a good holiday. The pictures are fab. Never been to Portugal, but would love to go! My neighbour is Portuguese and is returning home next year to live, she has been so homesick, can understand why looking at those pictures and the cheap food!
