Three days ago India came racing into the house, straight through the kitchen and up the stairs, all hair up on end and a tail like a flue brush. O.K. something had obviously frightened her so I went outside to see what was there - I didn't have to look f.ar, there was a Staffie jumping up at the peartree just the other side of the fence, and right at the top of the tree was next door's cat. I shouted for son, who shouted at the Staffie and it ran off (it was wearing a check chain and no tag) then we called neighbour who had to get a ladder to get her cat down.

The outcome of this is that now India needs a human escort to check the outside world before she will venture out and comes and shouts for us to go and make sure the coast is clear. I do hope she gets over this quickly, it is a bit time consuming having to stop doing things just to make shire the coast is clear.

I have no idea who owns the Staffie but if I find out I shall be more than a little forthright about the stupidity of letting a dog run loose wearing a check chain that could catch on anything, besides it being an inappropriate for a Staffie.
Rant over at someone's stupidity - Now you can wish me luck with India getting a speedy return to normality _:) :) Logoes

Oh dear, poor India...it must have given her an awful shock:(

I hope she soon regains her confidence, Logoes and you will be able to go about your business without interruptions once again.:D

Let's hope the Staffie episode was a one-off and it's owner makes sure it doesn't escape again....

Something tells me the Staffie may have been out walking (possibly) off lead and saw the cats and went into chase mode. Glad both cats made it away cafely a Staffie can do damage/kill a cat.

Cleo does the same thing though she will go out in the early hours alone whereas in the day she likes now to go out with a person.

Mind you she has two built in Staffie minders who would I have no doubt make short work of any maudering Staff that dared to chase her highness.

I am glad all is well though India will soon get over it even if she doesn't forget.

Kazz, we live on a quiet lane, used a lot by dog walkers, but I didn't recognise the Staffie, neither did my neighbour. and as far as we could see, looking both ways along the lane, there was no one looking for their dog. I'll ask in the PO next time I go in. Since I had my Harry PTS in January I don't do the village walk anymore to see other dog owners, but be sure I will ask around. Logoes

Hope India recovers from her shock. My two had a shock when the next door neighbour got a large dog but they are not too bad now (although they would still rather I be in the garden with them).

Oh, poorr India, what a shock!! Don't blame her a bit for wanting an escort; hope you locate the Staffie's owner soon!

Poor India.
Hope she will get her confidence back when she weighs up the situation and realises that the fence is strong and secure.

India has ventured outside by herself this afternoon, it's a lovely warm day so she must have decided it would be OK to go out. Now I can have my chair back, she has been sitting very firmly on it since the dog incident, with luck we are over the worst and things will return to normal shortly. I hope she won't regard next door's dog as a danger, she has always tolerated her - on the other side of the fence - and was OK with my brother's old dog. Logoes
