Have you seen the ads for the Jamie Oliver mixing 'thing' - 'thing' with a ball inside and ad with an Aussie barman?

Saw them in the shops on Friday, thought mmm, might get one, it's a reasonable idea. Looked at the price - £19.99  . Blimmin' heck - it's only a screw cap jar with a ball inside. So, I decided I'd stick with my pestle and mortar or even knife and spoon!

£19.99! - as Jamie might say 'you're 'aving a laff, aincha?

Also they say you can crush spices in it, surely you would have to shake that thing quite hard to crush anything??

As you say £19.99 is a bit of a rip off!

Another gimmick which you probably wouldn't use after a couple of times:roll:

There is something satisfying about grinding spices in a pestle n mortar . . . I haven't actually seen this Jamie Oliver thingie . . . but it does sound like a little bit of a 'gimmick' . . .

Looks nice, but it isn't getting great reviews

That's the badger! (as my son would say......obviously mild insanity is hereditary! )
Looks a good idea; seems too good to be true - and the reviews support that view - and is waaaaay to expensive.
Shame, I'm always keen on low-tech, non plug-in kitchen equipment.

The price is just because it has Jamie Olivers name to it. Like the George Foreman grill. If you wait a bit they will bring out a cheaper one... that probably will work better anyway!!!!

I saw one in a shop and also thought that it would have a job crushing or grinding spices.

lol knowing me if I bought one I would be shaking it like crazy to crush my spices it would open up in mid shake, fly everywhere, ball would disappear through my kitchen ceiling!!! :-D

Emma you sound like my sis. When we were younger she was making a milkshake in the blender and forgot to put the lid!!! What a mess we had to clean up. Mum only found about it a few years ago.
